Holy Week and Easter Schedule - April 14 thru April 21, 2019

April 17, 2019

Palm Sunday -  April 14th

8:00 am - Blessing of the Palms, Passion Gospel, Eucharist

9:30 am - Blessing of the Palms, Passion Gospel, Eucharist,

                  Choir & Hymns

Each of these services begins with the distribution of palms, remembering Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. But after a joyous procession into the church, the tone of the liturgy takes a sudden turn as the recounting of Jesus’ betrayal and passion plunges us into the darker experiences of the week ahead.

*No Church School or Coffee Hour on this day

 Maundy Thursday  -  April 18th

6:30 pm  -  Holy Eucharist with Foot-Washing and Agapé Meal; followed by Prayers before the Cross

In a very unique liturgy that begins in the Parish Hall, we commemorate Jesus’ teaching through example of our mandate to minister to one another and the world as servants of Christ. In the manner of the Eucharistic gatherings of the early Church, the liturgy leads into a celebration of Christian fellowship and community as we share a simple                                            meal of soup, cheese, fruit and bread. As the evening draws ever closer to                                          Good Friday, we conclude with prayers before the cross.

Good Friday  -  April 19th

12:00 Noon & 7:00 pm  -  Good Friday Liturgy

The Good Friday liturgy includes a recounting of the Passion narrative, the traditional solemn collects and adoration of the cross, concluding with communion from the sacrament reserved from the previous evening.

Easter Day  -  April 21st

7:00 am    Holy Eucharist, Rite I  - A quieter, more meditative, traditional celebration opens the day; followed by coffee in the narthex

9:00 am*   Holy Eucharist, Rite II - Celebratory liturgy featuring festive music from the Messiah choirs and musicians; followed by a festive reception in the Parish Hall

11:00 am*   Children & Family Eucharist - A shorter liturgy, featuring prayers, lessons and music written for younger children - the Church School’s annual EASTER EGG HUNT immediately follows this service, as well as a festive reception in the Parish Hall

* NURSERY: Childcare will be available for the 9:00 and 11:00 services. Nursery staff will be in place beginning at 8:45. We ask that all parents pick up their children as soon as the third service ends so that they may join in the Egg Hunt.
