Pack-A-Thon a Success!

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

To everyone who contributed time, money and effort to make yesterday's Rise Against Hunger Pack-A-Thon such a success: THANK YOU!!!

With over 120 volunteers, the work went smoothly and quickly . . . and the result: over 10,000 meals packed in just about one hour! Enough to feed over 60,000 hungry people! AMAZING!!!! It was a wonderful sight to see so many parishioners of all ages - along with extended family members, friends and neighbors, even a local Brownie troop! - who freely gave of themselves on a beautiful Sunday spring morning to ensure that the hungriest of God's people are nourished. In this season of Lent, when so many focus on what to give up, I am delighted that our faith community took something on to minister to others in need.

A special THANK YOU:

  • to Susan Miller, who brought this event to the vestry's attention and encouraged, coordinated and managed all the logistics with Rise Against Hunger;

  • to the youth of the parish and their parents and leaders who accomplished the set-up and clean-up operations so efficiently, and kept the bag-filling stations well supplied with materials;

  • to the Church School children and Brownie Troop 795 who served as runners, moving the filled bags to the weighing and sealing stations quickly;

  • and Marti Bender and her fellowship team, who, as always, kept everyone well-fed and hydrated.

Several people asked for this to become an annual parish event, so keep your eyes and ears open for a repeat opportunity next Lent!

Again: THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
