URGENT APPEAL FROM THE RECTOR
My sincere apologies for bombarding you with messages over the past couple of days, but I have an URGENT REQUEST for all of you . . .
As we all know, the COVID-19 crisis is dynamic and fluid, continually changing as it evolves. This means that guidelines and recommended precautions are constantly changing, sometimes too often to keep up with. While we were initially advised not to wear face masks unless we were infected with the coronavirus, we are all now being advised to wear face masks whenever we need to be out in public. Of course, these masks are now unavailable or are being appropriately reserved for hospital patients and personnel. I personally spent much of yesterday trying to find some masks, only to be informed at every store I went to that manufactured masks of any kind were no longer in stock.
This means that the majority of us are now being advised to wear homemade cloth masks. But for those of us who do not sew, where are we to obtain these?
Here is a perfect opportunity for us to pull together as a community and assist one another in staying healthy!
IF YOU ARE A SEAMSTRESS:
Please consider going online for a pattern and instructions for making homemade masks. In talking with a number of parishioners this morning, I understand that a number of these are readily available online, and that the masks are quite easy to produce.
If you can sew, please consider putting your skill to use for others in need.
Please bring your creations to the church office between the hours of 9:00am-1:00pm, Monday through Thursday.
EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEW, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF OTHER WAYS TO HELP:
Desperately needed are the following items:
1/4" elastic (which is now impossible to find in stores)
grosgrain ribbon or seam binding can then also be used to tie the masks
lengths of cloth or sewable material
If you have any of these items to donate, please bring them to the church office between the hours of 9:00am-1:00pm, Monday through Thursday. We will then make your donated items available to those doing the sewing.
And if you are willing to volunteer to deliver masks to those unable to come by the church office, please contact the Rector.
IF YOU NEED A MASK, OR A NUMBER OF MASKS FOR YOUR FAMILY:
As masks are made, they will be collected at the church office. Come during the office hours listed above to pick up needed masks.
NOTE: If you are unable to come to the church office, please contact the Rector (phone: 215-692-2667 (cell); email@example.com (personal email) or firstname.lastname@example.org (church email).
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION & ASSISTANCE!
WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
AND TOGETHER WE WILL GET THROUGH THESE TRYING TIMES!
In Christ's name, may all of you keep well and stay healthy!
