PREPARING FOR EASTER WORSHIP
Holy Saturday, 11 April 2020
Included in today's update: A Message from Father Keith with resources to participate in the Easter service, and links to our website and the Philadelphia Cathedral .
FROM THE RECTOR
On this day of preparation for tomorrow's Great Feast of the Resurrection, Easter Sunday I hope that this message finds you and all those in your household to be strong, and safe, and healthy.
Because worship should never be a spectator event, but participatory and communal, you will find the resources below that will allow you to actively join in tomorrow morning's Easter service that has been recorded and will be available on the parish website: messiahgwynedd.org.
I very much look forward to sharing with you in the joy of Easter as we gather to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord.
In the name of our Savior Jesus Christ,
and our God who wants only health and wholeness for his children,
I send you blessings, peace and grace in these uncertain, confusing and anxious times.
RESOURCES FOR EASTER WORSHIP
SONG OF PRAISE
Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
PSALM 118: 1-2,14-24
O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good:
his steadfast love endures forever!
Let Israel say,
"His steadfast love endures forever."
the Lord is my strength and my might;
he has become my salvation.
There are glad songs of victory in the tents of the righteous:
"The right hand of the Lord does valiantly;
the right hand of the Lord is exalted;
the right hand of the Lord does valiantly."
I shall not die, but I shall live,
and recount the deeds of the Lord.
The Lord has punished me severely,
but he did not give me over to death.
Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord;
the righteous shall enter through it.
I thank you that you have answered me
and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the chief cornerstone.
This is the Lord's doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all this is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look of the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Each petition ends as follows:
Intercessor: Blessed be the risen Christ.
Response: The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!
ONCE AGAIN, DON'T FORGET . . .
THE RECTOR'S EASTER SERVICE & MESSAGE ON THE WEBSITE
Since safety and health reasons demand that church services be suspended, the Rector has recorded an Easter service of prayers, scripture and homily which will be posted on the parish website (messiahgwynedd.org).
