I wanted to send out the next passage from our summer reading:
But I can't just send out the video without acknowledging the events of the past couple of weeks. My mind and my heart have been reeling as I have tried to process everything. Feeling helpless...feeling guilty for not doing enough...feeling sad...feeling angry...not knowing what to say...
One thing I know is that as Christians, we have some work ahead of us.
In our second reading from "Notes from Jesus," Jesus says, "I want you to know...I like hearing you say YOU love ME." This reading actually falls on the perfect Sunday. As father Keith explains in his sermon on Trinity Sunday, loving our neighbor is part of loving God. And there are a lot of neighbors who need our love right now.
We can remember the words of Proverbs 31:8-9
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Speak up for the helpless, and see that they get justice."
