Church School Lesson for Home: First Sunday of Lent
Updated: 4 days ago
Dear families- We did not meet on Sunday, February 21, but I wanted to send out something that you can do at home as a family for the first Sunday of Lent. Both activities are printables that you can print out at home if you have a printer.
The Gospel lesson for the first week of Lent is Mark 1:9-15. It is the story of Jesus' baptism. Here is a youtube video that tells the story. The video is actually a recording of the Children's Bible App for Kids from YOU VERSION. Side Note: This is a GREAT app that you can download on any iphone or kindle. I highly recommend it!!
Book Mark Printable:
Print out the book mark template. Children can color in the book mark and then they can fill in their Lenten promise.
Then cut out the two sides of the bookmark as one piece. Once it is cut, fold it in half and either use a hole punch or cut an x with your scissors to make a whole over the space marked. You can then add yarn, twine, ribbon or a cut piece of fabric(or any other creative materials you can find) to make the tassel!
Here is a printable of a 40 day Lenten calendar. It is sized so that children can cut it out and glue it into their Church School journals. OR you can also put the calendar on your fridge or bulletin board! Children can color in each day of the calendar as they complete their Lenten promise(from the bookmark) for the day! OR you can work together with your child to plan out special Lenten activities (service, prayer, acts of kindness, etc) that you can add to your calendar!
