YOM Meeting: April 11

Hi YOM Families!

I hope you all had an enjoyable Spring Break and a Happy Easter!

I have a few updates for you regarding our YOM Meetings and a few Service Opportunities for our ministry. The Bishop has communicated that all ministry programs for students 12 years or older are able to resume in person meetings beginning April 11th. Since our next scheduled meeting is for April 11th already, we will plan to meet in person at the Messiah Parish Hall. We will continue to follow the same guidelines as our previous meetings in the Fall, with mandatory masks and appropriate distancing during our meeting. Weather permitting, we will see if we are able to meet outside as well. We will keep with the same adjusted time schedule as we have done all year so far, which is 5:00pm - 6:00pm Sunday Evening.

We also have some service opportunities for our teens as well! During the month of April we will be running a Food Drive for Manna on Main Street in Lansdale. Our teens and families can help out by spreading the word and collecting donations!

We will also be offering some small incentives for any teens who would like to run their own mini food drive during this time. Check out the attached flyer below. You can send this to friends, family, neighbors, or post on social media, etc. to help us gather donations. Any donations you collect can be brought to our April 25th meeting. We will see how many storage bins can be filled and also weigh your donations. We will have some gift cards for whoever fills the most bins as well as whoever brings the most donations based on total weight.

At the end of the month during our April 25th meeting, we will organize the donations and prepare everything to be delivered to Manna.

Lastly, we will also have another opportunity for our teens to pitch in at Messiah on Saturday, May 22nd. for a (pre) Memorial Day Cemetery Cleanup and Landscaping from 9am until noon. For those of you who may have been at our Easter Services, you may have noticed we accumulated a lot of branches and debris these past few months. We will be cleaning up the cemetery and replacing old flags with new ones. Depending on our number of volunteers, we will hopefully be working on a bit of landscaping as well. We hope that by pitching in at Messiah we can help to beautify the grounds during this time when we are welcoming back our parish members. We will also have pizza and refreshments following our service hours, so be sure to stick around!

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Dave
