Living God's Peace

"We have a voice in the world as we are the hands and feet of Christ. A new day in the church? Let’s do it." Bishop Daniel G. P. Gutiérrez XVI The Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania Proper 15 / Year C Isaiah 5:1-7; Psalm 80:1-2, 8-18; Hebrews 11:29-12:2; Luke 12:49-56 18 August 2019 “Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth?” Jesus asks; and then answers, “No, I tell you, but rather division!” The true cost of following Jesus comes into sharp focus as Jesus, the Prince of Peace, warns, “From now on five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided: father against son and son against father… mother-in-law against her daughter

Church School Registration and the Start of our Fall Season set for Sept 8th

Church School registration will open on Sunday, September 8 following the 9:30 service. Join us at our sign up table for a fun activity and plenty of registration forms! We do ask that returning families fill out a new form each year. It helps to keep our information up to date. You ARE able to register at ANY time before or after our first day of church school. There is no deadline. Children are ALWAYS welcome to come on any Sunday. Visitors are ALWAYS welcome, with or without a registration form. Our forms simply help us gather information on ages, food allergies, etc. so that we can make our church school as safe and age appropriate as possible. Our first official day of church school

The Gospel According to the Wizard

PROPER 14 Isaiah 1:1, 10-20; Psalm 50:1-8, 23-24; Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16; Luke 12:32-40 11 August 2019 To paraphrase this morning’s gospel text from St. Luke, Jesus says: Fear not, for I will give you the Kingdom. Talk about the Good News of the Gospel! This sounds wonderful! Reminds me of that catchy late-80’s song by Bobby McFerrin: Don’t Worry, Be Happy. Only one problem with this easy-going, devil-may-care philosophy: None of us can really do this – or not carry it off for very long. How can we not

Have you ever seen an armored truck following a hearse?

PROPER 13 Hosea 11:1-11; Psalm 107:1-9, 43; Colossians 3:1-11; Luke 12:13-21 4 August 2019 “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.” What thoughts did this line from our morning’s Gospel reading bring up for you? Did you think: “Oh, good! I’ve been hoping Keith would preach about greed!” Or was it more like: “Oh, no. Here it comes: an early stewardship talk.” Another of what someone has called the rector’s annual ‘Sermon on the Amount.’ The topic of money discussed from the pulpit can make many church-goers cringe – and some, downright angry. In truth, talking about money makes not just church-goers, but most people in our society uncomfortable. It’s one of those things you l
