THE RECTOR'S MESSAGE Thursday, 30 July 2020

Included in today's update: A Message from Father Keith, Will They Come Back?, New Vestry Members, Property Upgrades, Forward Day By Day, Food Assistance, Recipes Needed, Various Reminders and a Prayer & Psalm for the Week FROM THE RECTOR Thursday, 30 July 2020 Dear Friends: I continue to be dismayed at the televised images of people who refuse to wear a mask or practice social distancing. How, I wonder, did we get to the point where the sensible request to wear a face covering became a declaration of a political affiliation or a statement regarding personal liberty? Other countries do not have this problem and their infection counts and death tallies show the wisdom of their compliance.

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY WORSHIP Saturday, 25 July 2020 Eighth Sunday after Pentecost

Included in today's update: A Message from Father Keith, the Liturgy for Tomorrow's Worship, and Birthdays in the Week Ahead FROM THE RECTOR Saturday, 25 July 2020 Dear Friends: Please forgive the brevity of this week's email message. As I write this, it is only Tuesday afternoon, and it already seems to be an overly long week. This morning I led and preached the funeral for a young girl, just four years old, who died a violent death at the hands of her mother, who then took her own life. How, I wonder, does one get to this place in their head, even in the midst of a most bitter custody battle? How does one's mind and thoughts come to think this is the best thing to do, the best outcome, th

FROM THE RECTOR Saturday,18 July 2020 Dear Friends: "In the midst of life, we are in death" These words from the Prayer Book have been on my mind over the past few days . . . I woke on Thursday morning to the news of John Long's sudden and very unexpected death in the night, following a surgical procedure a week before. This news was accompanied by another phone message from a life-long friend back in Indiana letting me know that his son had died, also suddenly and unanticipated. Then, mid-morning, a distraught family ar
