Ephesians 4:11-13

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

Opportunities to serve are abundant at Church of the Messiah, offering something for everyone looking to act upon their baptismal covenant. Ministries are open to all ages, interests, and capabilities. Time commitments range from occasional to regularly-scheduled activities at your convenience.

The ENDOWMENT Board established an Investment Policy for managing the funds of the Endowment Fund and the Memorial Funds. The primary objective is to achieve a reasonable return on the assets, while limiting the risk exposure to ensure the preservation of capital. The Board formulates policy defining the spending rules and protocols, with the approval of Vestry, consistent with the stated purposes of each Fund.

The FELLOWSHIP & SOCIAL Ministry delights in seeing people having fun together, making new and closer relationships, turning out high quality food, and having a full house at events.

Its mission is to provide hospitality and opportunities for parishioners and visitors to develop relationships by coming together in community as a church family. Coffee hour, dinners, picnics and other events are provided, as well as the care and management of the kitchen and supplies by the Kitchen Keepers. Whether you are looking to help on a regular basis, or you just baked an amazing cake you would like to share, the Fellowship ministry welcomes your participation.

The mission of the MESSIAHCARE ministry is to share God’s love, strength, warmth and compassion with those within the parish requesting help. This ministry is represented by several groups that reach out to parishioners and others with special needs, cares or concerns for themselves, family members or friends, and for those celebrating special occasions. Each ministry within MESSIAHCARE has its own unique quality. Ministries include Prayer Shawl, Prayer Chain, Home Touch, Eucharistic Visitors, Funeral Luncheons, and Parish Meals. Click on the underlined ministries above  for more information.

The mission of Messiah’s OUTREACH ministry is “helping others in need” in the community and the world. Outreach activities include preparing care packages and meals for local families, nursing homes, and those in need. For example, participation in Episcopal Community Services special appeals, weekly food deliveries to Manna on Main Street in Lansdale, as well as participation in national and global outreach programs and events during the holidays, on special occasions and throughout the year provide numerous opportunities to give time and talent.

In addition, the OUTREACH group disburses the proceeds from our Thrift Shop Belfry Bargains each month to various organizations and groups based on their need for financial support. Click here for more information about Belfry Bargains.

The mission of the PROPERTY Ministry is to maintain and improve the physical property of the church campus. This group plans and implements maintenance and improvement projects to ensure the campus is safe and appealing to all who enter.

Our LAY WORSHIP ministries manage crucial works that ensure our weekly worship services are performed in accordance with prescribed church practices. The volunteers represent a true cross section of the parish, from children and youth, to senior parishioners. The largest number of volunteer parishioners participates in these vital worship ministries. Made up of several groups, each ministry provides training and scheduling. Time commitments are as little as an hour every six weeks to several hours weekly. Ministries include the Altar Guild, Flower Guild, Chimers, Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, Acolytes, Lay Readers, Chalice Bearers, and UshersClick here for more information about the  LAY WORSHIP ministries.

The CHRISTIAN FORMATION groups focus on providing Christian education and spiritual enrichment through opportunities to serve or participate.

Ministries are supported by staff positions and volunteers and include: Youth of Messiah, Kids of Messiah, Nursery, Adult Education, Adult Forum, Inquirers and Confirmation classes.

The GREETERS and MESSIAH CONNECTIONS ministries focus on the welcoming and care of prospective, new, and existing parishioners as all are greeted and invited to enter their worship in a spirit of joy and fellowship. Special receptions are held twice a year to give visitors and new members an opportunity to meet staff and vestry for a casual evening of getting to know each other. Training is provided for new volunteers.

The COMMUNICATIONS and SOCIAL MEDIA ministry is dedicated to internal and external parish communications, and facilitates the flow of information between ministries, to the congregation, and to the community. Comprised of staff and volunteers, communications activities include the sharing of information through bulletins, announcements, the parish website, newsletters and e-news, posters, banners, logo wear, press releases, and public relations--to mention just a few.
